Dreaming of Getting Married in Wildflower Fields in front of Snow Capped Mountains? A Montana Summer Wedding

So you’re dreaming of a Montana wedding – do you picture fields of wildflowers, beautiful sunny skies until late in the day, warm day time temperatures and cool nights? Then June and July are the perfect months for your dream Montana wedding!

From old-timers to outdoorsy transplants, we Montanans tend to love repeating classic quips like “If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes” and “There are only two seasons in Montana: winter and road construction,” usually said with both irony and honesty. Talking about the weather and seasons is big here – not because there’s a lack of other conversation topics, but because it plays a huge role in the lives and livelihoods of most Montanans. In the spring and summer, river flows are discussed and dissected. In winter, local news stations regularly report mountain avalanche conditions as part of the weather report.

Ranchers, skiers, and everyone in between pays close attention to the weather, and brides- and grooms-to-be should, too. You can plan an incredible party to celebrate the start of your marriage, no matter the weather, but your best bet starts with having an idea of what to expect so you can choose which month is best for your dream celebration.

“Marry when June roses grow, over land and sea you’ll go.”

June offers some of the longest and most beautiful summer days in the Gallatin Valley. With temperatures averaging a high of 77 and a low of 47 you can look forward to a comfortable outdoor ceremony (no too hot and not too cold) and can enjoy a gorgeous fire – maybe with a gourmet s’more bar to close out your celebration. While June often still brings snow in the mountains, the valleys are typically in the clear, leaving you with beautiful green hills and snow-capped mountains in the distance for your photos.

We will let you in on a little secret regarding a June wedding – your vendors are fresh! :-). They have just started their season and still have all kinds of energy, in an industry that does the large majority of its business over 3-4 months time you can bet that people will be a little tired by September and October. Take advantage of that energy!

We also love the idea of July weddings. July in the Gallatin Valley is always a full on celebration of life, love and SUMMER! For people who live in what seems like eternal winter you can bet that Montanans know how to take advantage of, and have a good time in the summer. Rivers are active, trails are clear and in full wildflower bloom and town is full of music in the streets. July temperatures average 86 during the day and 52 at night. Because of the long days (sun sets close to 10:00 pm) we recommend a later ceremony to keep guests out of the hot sun and a party late into the night with that same amazing fire!

A July wedding means inviting visiting guests to experience world-class fly fishing and whitewater rafting as a counterpoint to hot, sunny days. For adventurers, Montana summer means formerly muddy trails become dry and inviting, perfect for hiking and trail-running.

All in all, you can’t go wrong with a Montana wedding. Whatever your date let us help make your dream wedding come to life!
